Palma Lawrence Reed (Producer)

Palma grew up in Compton, California, and knew at an early age she was destined to act.  She took a minor detour and attended law school but her desire to perform never waned.  After two years as a practicing attorney, Palma realized she would rather “play” a lawyer than “be” a lawyer.  She promptly closed her office, hitched a U-Haul trailer to her classic Barracuda, and returned to Los Angeles where she began a fulltime pursuit of the dramatic arts.  She has been active in Los Angeles theatre as an actor, playwright and producer.  In addition, Palma has appeared in television commercials as well as films.  She was a fellow at the American Film Institute where she earned a certificate of completion in screenwriting.  Palma was awarded the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition in 1997, for her work as guest artist with church and civic organizations.  In 2006, she added feature film producer to her credits with the slapstick comedy, “Robbin’ In Da Hood.” The following year she teamed with Michael and Lesa Fouther to produce “Cordially Invited.”  Palma has discovered that in addition to acting, producing is a role she was born to play.  For her, the most exhilarating and fulfilling aspects of producing are identifying the creative talents in other artists and providing an arena for them to express those talents.  With two features completed, she is excited about her forthcoming project: a feature film that will pay homage to African-American female legends of the silver screen.  Her personal philosophy:  “You can do anything you want as long as you don’t forget that.”  Palma is most grateful to her Heavenly Father for inspiring her to dream and to her earthly father for encouraging her to live her dreams.
